Learn to Play
What is the Learn to Play (LTP) Program?
Learn to Play is a program created jointly by the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the National Hockey League (NHL) that provides a unique opportunity for families to join our Red Bank hockey community and for participants to develop fundamental skills to help them succeed both on and off the ice.
The Red Bank Armory LTP Program in partnership with the New Jersey Devils is the next step in your child's progression as a hockey player from our Cadet Program.
Please note that if your child has not graduated from our Cadet Program they need to be evaluated by our LTP Director, Nick Regas prior to enrolling in LTP Level 1.
LTP Level 1
Level 1 is the introduction of basic hockey skills such as hockey stance, forward skating, backward skating, edge control, stick handling, passing and snowplow stop.
LTP Level 2
Level 2 is the reinforcement of skill development where we focus on stick handling and passing in motion, backward skating, edge control, stopping, forward crossovers, shooting and game concepts.
Commanders Program
The Commanders program is the next progression to provide beginner hockey players another step in their path to travel hockey. Players will focus on skill development along with basic hockey concepts in a fun and competitive atmosphere to grow their love for the game. All players must complete the Cadet & Learn to Play programs before being promoted by a Red Bank Armory Director to the Commanders.
